Woman Power! Maia Chung to Become Jamaica’s Youngest Media Boss for a National Free to Air TV Station

maia-chung1-300x300Cornwall Broadcasting Company Limited and Maia Chung have signed off on Chung taking on the roll of General Manager of  Cornwall Broadcasting Limited’s Mello Television as of May 1, 2015 .

Miss Chung who is also a long time contributor for The Jamaican Blogs has 20 years experience in journalism and media work including in the print , radio, television and web mediums.

She began her career as a full fledged Journalist at 17.

She is an honours graduate of the University West Indies specialization – Mass Communication studies.

Her two decades of work in the media has seen her doing the functions of  Media Consultant , Senior Anchor/Senior News Producer, Programme Developer/Training, Recruiting/Hosting, Sports Anchor and she has worked with the Government of Jamaica as a Communications and Public Relations Specialist with Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA).

As a government communication specialist she provided Technical advice, developed and implemented policies, Systems and Procedures and was in charge of Internal and external communications systems designed and implemented to enhance the Organisation’s objectives.

Miss Chung concurrently managed the Maia Chung Autism and Disabilities Foundation while being the CEO of Maia Chung Television – a television content provider.

MCTV airs globally and broadcasts on the web as well as traditional television screens through cable company syndication.

As a government communication specialist she provided Technical advice, developed and implemented policies, Systems and Procedures and was in charge of Internal and external communications systems designed and implemented to enhance the Organisation’s objectives.

Miss Chung spent two years as a Cabinet appointee on the National Advisory Board for Persons with Disabilities and chairman of the Public Education Committee Sub-Committee of that Board.

She was also appointed to the board of the Jamaica Coalition for the Rights of the Child (JCRC) – the JCRC is a watchdog group comprising several national organisations whose mandate is uphold the rights of the Jamaican child as articulated in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child as signed and ratified by Jamaica.

Maia Chung is an Author, Autism Advocate, Motivational Speaker,  Designer,  Actress and Philanthropist.

Autism

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by impaired social interaction, verbal and non-verbal communication, and restricted and repetitive behavior. Parents usually notice signs in the first two years of their child's life.[2] These signs often develop gradually, though some children with autism reach their developmental milestones at a normal pace and then regress.[3] The diagnostic criteria require that symptoms become apparent in early childhood, typically before age three.
